After I decided to immerse my life in this new passion and keep myself behind the camera and at times in front of the lens, I rediscovered myself as an artist and realized that my life is full of visions that are translated into my work. I have come to realize that talent is situational and is directly inspired and influenced by your upbringing, social environment, long life struggles and discoveries; Triggers of the Creative Mind.

The presence of reality and the idea of the surreal is what drives me and my photography to continue to create a body of work where self experience and self identification within society affects my art and persona – leading me to the obsession of being in the present with images that exhibit a deeply mysterious atmosphere, with unexplained elements that seem to refer to something else seen, read or imagined beyond the photograph.

My images are a composite of layers, mainly in film, both color and black and white. Based on few early explorative photography techniques used to document the invisible to the common eye and/or the paranormal, the study of movement and more commonly used within the surrealism movements. The idea behind multiple exposures is to create what is unknown about life, my life, and the layers we shed in order to grow, discover and become successful within our body and soul.

Very much inspired by the cinematic/fashion aesthetic of Steven Klein, the obsession with the male figure of Bruce Weber, the sexual intentions of Juergen Teller, the explicit sexual objectification of Robert Mapplethorpe, the surrealism of Man Ray, Hans Bellmer, Marcel Duchamp, the voyeurism in Tierney Gearon, and the fashion aspects of Steven Meisel, Greg Gorman, David Sims, Mert and Marcus, Ryan McGinley, Mario Sorrenti, Herbs Ritts, among many others, my visual inspirations certainly take apart the specifics of each photographer to partly influence my own work. As my knowledge grows stronger even though, at times I refused to do any kind of research for the purpose of bettering my own work, it is unavoidable to feel inspired by our preceding masters in photography.

When realizing the nature of the subjects, I conclude that my appreciation for genders is directly linked to the sexual energy that these can emanate in a natural or provoked state. Therefore, exploring the sacred paths of art and sex, I have learned more by following the contours of the soul, the spirit and the flesh of both men and women who remain close to my heart.

My lighting and monochromatic color palettes are directly influenced by black and white photography as well as by historical painting aesthetics, such as Tenebrisim and Chiaroscuro. Artists such Caravaggio, Gerard Van Hothorst, George De La Tour, Fragonard and Rembrandt and it’s historical movement during the Renaissance and the Baroque. Furthermore, the cubism technique mastered by Pablo Picasso, the DADA movement with Marcel Duchamp, the surrealism by Salvador Dali and the human body deconstruction by Hans Bellmer in his photographs series La Poupee, has allowed me to add to my images a stronger view within the fine art world and the surrealism genre.

One can say that my pictures have an underlying psychological and cinematic feel to them, and due to my intentional style, it cannot be denied. After all, my work is based on my compilation of experiences and my interpretation of one’s evolution.

Furthermore, my ultimate goal is to be able to incorporate my aesthetic within the fashion world and as I continue to polish my work, I want to be able to make it pertinent in the industry.
