Hi everyone, I’m a Florida based photographer focusing on conceptual portraiture. I am fascinated by the redemptive quality of the photograph. In a society caught by the crosshairs of idealism and reality portraiture provides a much-needed sense of control.
My subjects don’t have perfect proportions. They don’t seem themselves the way I see them; unique, special, photogenic. Through pictures people can see just how beautiful they are. That is why I take pictures. I feel the need to show them and hopefully convince them that they are beautiful; on the inside and outside.
As C.S Lewis once said, “What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing. It also depends on what sort of person you are.” I want to share with the world the view from where I stand. Photography allows me to express the beauty I never fail to see.
I am so grateful to have found photography. I was always a strange child. I still am a strange child. Whether I was water coloring the walls in my family’s home or painting my papa’s toenails, I was constantly moving and art helped me to focus my energy. I am self-taught in everything I do, and I was fortunate enough to have my family’s support along the way.
Strangely enough, although I had always loved photography, I never really gave myself a chance to begin. I was obsessed, but terrified to fail. After I survived a very difficult time my parents gave me a camera along with a note asking me to open myself to viewing life through a new lens. I have not gone a day without taking pictures since.
