50 Stunning Photographs of Urban Decay

July 26, 2011 By Scott 7 Comments

Every month we ask Seven by Five readers to submit their photographs on a particular theme or concept. This month we asked you to post your favourite “Urban Decay” images and they came in droves. Like previous themes each photo links directly to the photographer’s flickr page. Why not expand the community by adding them as a contact?

If you like the concept of Urban Decay you might also like our previous theme “Aged”.

Remember anyone can take part in our monthly flickr themes, see our previous themes and find out more on your flickr theme page.

David, having just recently discovered your site, and being relatively new to Photography, I visit here on a regular basis and draw a great deal of knowledge and inspiration from many of your amazing articles and features (I even have a good number of them bookmarked for future reference) If there is one thing I enjoy more than the process of learning, experimenting and trying to take a good photograph, it’s looking at some of the amazing photographs taken by others that I find here and elsewhere, having been pointed in their direction by you and others.
Your, monthly theme aspect to this site is a great tool for me, being quite green and somewhat wet behind the ears (at least when it comes to Photography), it gives me a focus and gets me thinking, this months theme ‘Urban Decay’ was the first one I actively participated in, in that I was driven to go out and seek relevant subjects to capture, with the intention of submitting them to the Flickr pool. So one Sunday at the very beginning of July, grabbed my Camera and headed out with a purpose, took a few shots, came home and uploaded them and thought nothing more about it and I have to say I really enjoyed it.
So weeks passed I snapped away, took a few photos of my band recording and continued to experiment with various things.
So last night, I’m on twitter and I seen a tweet from you linking me to the post above and without hesitation I clicked on the little blue link. I was curious to see what pictures you hand chosen to represent the July theme and had enjoyed looking through all the previous monthly themes. Now at no time was I thinking of or expecting to see one of my own photos in this selection let alone 3, I was truly shocked, quite excited and honored to be included amongst some truly wonderful pictures of urban decay taken by some fantastic photographers.
Being included in those 50 has given my confidence a massive boost and will push me forward to learn more, to take better pictures and to perhaps trust my instinct more often.
    Thank You David
    Dominic

Hi Brian! Yes, you’ll need a Flickr account. We do a monthly Theme in our Flickr group here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/sevenbyfive/ . This month’s Theme is ICE. Can’t wait to see your photos!
